Bears are awesome

Here are some bear facts:

• Polar bears are the largest land predators on earth, standing over 11′ high and weighing over 1,700 lbs.
• Bears can see in color.
• Bears have possibly the best sense of smell of any mammal.
• A group of bears is called a sloth.
• Grizzly bear front claws can be up to 4 inches in length. It is probably best to avoid these.
• Black bears can run up to 40kmh.
• Bears have small rounded ears to minimize heat loss.
• Bears do not have touch-sensitive whiskers like many other carnivores.
• During hibernation, a bear’s heart rate slows from ~55 beats per minute to 9.
• Grizzly bears can be up to 8 feet tall when standing on their back legs.
• Polar bears have black skin under their fur.
• Grizzly bears have a bite-force of over 8,000,000 pascals, enough to crush a bowling ball.
• The brown bear is the national bear of Finland.
• Polar bears can swim 60 miles without stopping.
